Transcript of an excerpt from Al-Musalsal al-Kūmidī—“Al-Ǧīrān”—ʿUnwān al-Ḥalaqa “Ḥubūbī”1. Al-Ǧīrān was a TV series on Oman TV during the early 2000s. Even though the actors clearly speak dialect throughout, the language is mostly very clear.
| I [just] wanted to get back the Ṭība which I knew in [earlier] times. You took care of your outfit and your looks and you cared about me and [now] you didn’t feel that I was missing something. | Ich es war Absicht-meine ich-nehme-zurück für-Tiba, welche ich-kenne-sie von Zeiten. | I was missing my wife, yes, I don’t just want a mother and mistress of the house, I want a wife and a [best] friend and a lover! Do you understand? | Es-fehlt-mir Frau-meine, ja, ich nicht will nur Mutter und Herrin (des-)Haus(es), nein, ich will Ehefrau, und (beste) Freundin, und Geliebte. | I understand, but you also treated me unfairly, through the story [with] the letter, isn’t it? And the phone, and the women’s scent! Oh, if only you had told me like you told me [just] now.
